M.Y.B.F. Open Meeting Minutes

11/8/05 8:35 PM – 3rd floor rec. center

1. Field closing: all fields are closed; participation could have been better, thank you to all who helped.

2. High school program: Bill Donahue, attended meeting and filled us in on upcoming events in the year to come. Talked about fundraising, parent group help, possibly sending the varsity team to Florida. Bill has also offered to possibly hold free clinics after the pancake breakfast to help some of the boys with hitting, pitching, etc.

3. Eligibility date change: discussed what to do for kids who want to play up or down. Several alternatives were discussed at length, including

• Applying the new dates without any exceptions or grandfathering.

• Applying the new dates to all leagues, but grandfathering all existing play ups and play downs and consider further requests for play ups and play downs in Pony league and above.

• Applying new dates to all leagues and allowing play ups and play downs for grade appropriate with grandfathering of current play ups and play downs.

• Tony clearly and strongly recommended that we not allow our league to adopt the 12 year-old swing player option. Tony explained that this is essentially a play up for talent and that is something MYBF has never allowed. Tony explained it has been MYBF philosophy to have a strong player play with his league and enjoy star status.

4. Karen Fetchko has agreed to be our Administrative Coordinator.

5. Lucy Taglienti has agreed to handle all pictures.

6. Discussed the use of some of the M.Y.B.F funds.
