M.Y.B.F.  Open Meeting

  1. Opening Day:  Debbie Falconiero discussed opening day parade on April 1st. Line up @ UES school and walk to Salem. 

 

  1. Concession: Pat Devaney discussed concession stand.  Ready to go, shelving installed refrigerator donated etc.

 

  1. Photographs: Lucy Taglienti discussed pictures & photographer. Forms will be handed out with uniforms the Friday before opening day.  Forms will also be available on the web.  All teams to show up an hour before there scheduled game time for pictures.

 

  1. Registration:  We are @ 690 registered a slight drop from last year.

 

  1. Pancake Breakfast:  3/18  8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Moorestown High School. Field clean up is to follow. All parents as well as managers and coaches are welcome to come.

 

  1. Umpires: Chuck Bouchey discussed clinics held;  Feb 18th, 19th, 25th & 26th: 38 umpires returning from last year, 51 altogether.  Definitely down on umpires.  Chuck B. will contact the umpires from last year who did not attend the clinics to see if they’ll be interested in umpiring.  If so, we will have a final clinic for those boys.  It was also discussed to hire outside umpires to handle some games in the Sosa league.  Depends on response.  Discussed adjusting umpire pay to be more in line with softball and more attractive to boys.

4.     Umpire Training:          Held at Moorestown Bible Church:

5.  Pancake Breakfast:

 

     * The pancake breakfast will be held on March 18, 2006.

     * We are still in need of help unloading, loading, setting up

       etc.  Please contact Tony C. (league president) or Frank

       Bailey for details on how to help.          

     * Field clean up will be immediately following pancake break-

       fast. Field Commissioners will recruit two coaches or parents

       from each team to help.

 

      6. Comments:

 

      * Comments regarding manager candidates for ages 13,14,15          

         yr. old tournament teams. The nominees are:

    7. Other Business:

 

     * Discussed playing in a spring Sunday league with other                       towns. Details will be discussed at a later meeting.

 

     8. Rules:

 

          * Discussed rules regarding changes as requested.

          * All rules will remain the same with the exception of:

 

             Griffey league:

                   * Delayed steal will be eliminated.

             Coach pitch thru Babe Ruth: 

                   * Late player arrival will be allowed to enter the game

                      and will bat last in the line-up.

 

     9. Sponsors:

 

     * We are short 10 sponsors. If anyone would like to sponsor,

1.                  Registration- Final day, Saturday, 1/14/06; Rec. Center.

 

2.                  Late Registration- After 1:00 this Saturday, is considered late, $20.00 late fee & no guarantee you?ll be placed on a team.

 

3.                  Skill Evaluation- 2/4 Saturday & 2/12 Sunday at Grand Slam from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M.

 

4.                  Draft- Week of 2/26 League Commissioner will choose a place for each league to handle evaluating scores & placements.

 

5.                  Umpire Training- Chuck B. & Bruno C. are handling at the All Purpose Room at the  United Methodist Church. *New rule for umpiring, if you have been through the 2005 training last year, & have 3 years of experience umpiring, you do not have to attend the 2006 umpire clinics.

 

6.                  Pancake Breakfast- 3/18 ? McDonalds; on Lenola Road, donates all food, equipment, etc. Many Thanks to everyone. We also could use as much help as possible; contact Frank Bailey.

 

7.                  Field Opening / Clean Up Day following the pancake breakfast- Install new batting nets at Salem, some ground work, as well as any other issues with all the fields.

 

8.                  Cooperstown Fund Raiser- Comedy Club held at the end of February, Apparel for Sale, Magnets, as well as other ways to help fund the dream.

 

9.                  Sponsors- Very strong thus far, approximately 30 sponsors or so.

 

10.             Rules- Mark Kaiser will hold a committee meeting to discuss c urrent rules as well as any new rule change suggestions.

 

11.             Next open meeting will be on February 14th,2006 @ the rec. center.

M.Y.B.F. Open Meeting Minutes

11/8/05 8:35 PM – 3rd floor rec. center

1. Field closing: all fields are closed; participation could have been better, thank you to all who helped.

2. High school program: Bill Donahue, attended meeting and filled us in on upcoming events in the year to come. Talked about fundraising, parent group help, possibly sending the varsity team to Florida. Bill has also offered to possibly hold free clinics after the pancake breakfast to help some of the boys with hitting, pitching, etc.

3. Eligibility date change: discussed what to do for kids who want to play up or down. Several alternatives were discussed at length, including

• Applying the new dates without any exceptions or grandfathering.

• Applying the new dates to all leagues, but grandfathering all existing play ups and play downs and consider further requests for play ups and play downs in Pony league and above.

• Applying new dates to all leagues and allowing play ups and play downs for grade appropriate with grandfathering of current play ups and play downs.

• Tony clearly and strongly recommended that we not allow our league to adopt the 12 year-old swing player option. Tony explained that this is essentially a play up for talent and that is something MYBF has never allowed. Tony explained it has been MYBF philosophy to have a strong player play with his league and enjoy star status.

4. Karen Fetchko has agreed to be our Administrative Coordinator.

5. Lucy Taglienti has agreed to handle all pictures.

6. Discussed the use of some of the M.Y.B.F funds.

• Batting cages will be installed at Salem upper behind the right field fence.

• A score board will be installed for Salem upper as well.

M.Y.B.F. Open Meeting Minutes

10/11/05 8:35 PM – 3rd floor rec. center

1. Fall Ball: is going well so far, lights working, fields are okay, no complaints.

2. Instructional Program: Bill Luthy reports approx. about 20-22 boys involved in being taught fundamentals, batting stances, as well as basics of baseball.

3. Field Closing: November 5th, at 9 A.M, all fields will be closed, removal of tarps, putting equipment away, etc. All are welcome to help.

4. Discussed appreciation night, to be held on 10/22/05, 7:30 P.M at Willowbrook Country Club.

5. Trustee nominees were picked and announced.

6. The new trustees are: Ed Nice, Steve Schurer, & Pat Devany. Welcome to the board of trustees everyone!

7. Tony announced that our sponsoring league has changed birth date requirements for each league, moving them to May 1, from their current date of August 1. The new window will be May 1 – April 30. The old window was August 1 – July 31. There were questions from the audience regarding the impact on play ups and play downs. Tony explained the impact of the change and that no decision had been made yet.

Field Update:

 

1.     Tony C. – Lenola has been irrigated.

2.     Salem Upper is in bad shape.  We decided to re-sod.  All games will be temporarily moved.

3.     New schedule has been issued to keep field open.

4.     Batters box template missing from Salem Upper.  Must start to lock it up. 

5.     Need insert @ Memorial #4  2nd base.

 

 

Commission Report:

 

1.     Bo M. (Tee & Pony) Keeping kids in same position for more than one inning.  Also trying to bat through line up.  Must keep to the rules.  If you have not read them, please do so.

2.     Mark K. (Coach Pitch) Umpire situation: parents on one side became a little vocal causing the umpire to feel intimidated.  The team involved sent out an e-mail correcting the problem. All should be well.

3.     Pat D. (Griffey) All good reports.

4.     Ed N. (Sosa)  All good reports.

5.     (Ripken)  All good reports.

6.     (Babe Ruth) Games are behind, must get these games in. 

7.     All Star Games: Ed N. May 21st  Field to be determined at a later date.
